At SQL Solutions Group, it’s our business to help you manage your database. Our SQL Server Consultants include Microsoft Certified Masters, nationally known speakers, trainers and authors, and together they have more than 75 years of combined experience.
I founded SQL Solutions Group in October 2010, after more than 20 years in the technology industry. What I love about my work is solving, fairly easily, what can seem to others to be insurmountable problems. I was once called the “database whisperer” by a customer. I thought that was pretty cool.
In addition to 18 years’ experience with SQL Server, I am a Microsoft Certified Master and Microsoft Certified Solutions Master in SQL Server 2008 and have been a certification junkie for most of my career. I have numerous Novell, Microsoft, and Cisco legacy certifications (too many to list) as well. Prior to founding SSG, I spent many years as a Database Administrator in a variety of industries including financial services, telecommunications, and dot com / internet properties.
I’ve done lots of fun stuff in my career. The most “interesting” data I’ve worked with was when I was a database architect for match.com just because it’s so different. Since everyone asks, I was already married when I went to work there and met my wife the old fashioned way.
I also really enjoy taking part in and presenting at SQL Server events nationwide including SQLSaturday, User Groups, SQL PASS Rally and SQL PASS Summit. We’ve assembled a great team of SQL Server Consultants and have the talent to tackle anything.
As a Microsoft Certified Master/Microsoft Certified Solutions Master and SQL Server MVP, I have 19 years’ experience in the technology industry, including more than 11 with SQL Server. I also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems from Utah State University. One of the highlights of my career was co-authoring SQL Server 2012 T-SQL Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach. I am a frequent presenter at SQL Server events worldwide, which includes SQLSaturdays and User Groups. I am also currently helping lead the Las Vegas SQL Users Group.
I love finding that magic turbo button to make queries go faster which ultimately leads to huge relief and satisfaction for the client. I have done that sort of work for clients of all sizes throughout the world. I have experience with multi-TB databases as well as environments with thousands of SQL Server instances to manage.
I’ve been involved with technology for 36 years. Since 1998, I’ve been working with SQL Server, since version 6.5. I am a Microsoft Certified Master and Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (and all those prerequisites). Earning my MCM has definitely been a career highlight for me.
Even with that under my belt, I welcome any opportunity to learn new things about SQL. I love tuning queries for optimal performance, and automating tasks. I co-authored SQL Server 2012 T-SQL Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach, frequently participate and present at SQL Server events (including SQLSaturday’s), and I write for SQLServerCentral.com.
The most rewarding project I have been a part of, to date, is my marriage. Career-wise, it would be the journey to earning my MCM.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed writing. It started with short stories and grew into articles and opinion pieces in the school newspaper. This passion for communicating clearly and well—and, when warranted, with some flair—lead to a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Brigham Young University in 1996. After two years in Mexico, Mo. as the Director of Information and Publications at the Missouri Military Academy, (exactly two hours from Busch Stadium) I joined the public relations team at Morinda, Inc.
Since that time, I’ve been more involved in marketing communications, helping to shape and share the messages of Nu Skin Enterprises, Max International and most recently SAVI Health, to name a few. In 2007, I completed an MBA from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. This world of SQL Server Consultants is an interesting one (in a good way).
I serve as the SSG Office Manager, so getting stuff done is a big deal to me. I have an Associate’s Degree from the College of Southern Nevada (General Studies, Emphasis on Political Science).
What I enjoy most about my role at SSG is the ability to learn and grow while utilizing my unparalleled work ethic to run the day-to-day operations of the office. I am naturally a very positive person with an upbeat attitude. If anyone connected to SSG needs help, I am more than happy to help in any way I can!
Hiking, reading, watching TV, playing with my lil’ man, target shooting.
